Cyfac Custom(er) Satisfaction
Monday, December 19, 2011 at 12:36PM Thank you very much to Alex Hawker for his nice compliments. Good luck for your return to cycling. We'll see you at the top of the col!
"The bike is really beautiful, I had to send multiple images as they were too large to be sent all together. The bike is really special as it was a real custom build with oversize top tube and carbon around the bottom bracket to allow press fit bearings and to get maximum suitability for me as I was rather large (127KG), having ridden the bike to help my fitness I am today down to 101KG, and by next summer I expect to be 86KG. The problem with my weight happened when I broke my ACL anterior cruciate Ligament in my left knee, In a skiing accident 2 years ago and I could not move for a long time so my weight went up.
Anyway Cycling has been my way back to fitness and my Cyfac has been the inspiration, it’s such an amazing bike that I love to be out riding it, it is so smooth to ride its incredible. My personal big challenge for next year is to take the bike to the French Alps and do the Col D’iseran above Val d’isere. It is a super long climb so I had better make sure I lose the weight.
The bike is so great I have just bought another Cyfac Nerv DS2 for my wife, so maybe we will do that climb together."

Just a note on custom and what it means. The new Nerv DS2 for my wife is a standard Cyfac small frame size as when she was measured it simply came out that the small was a perfect fit size for her.The only thing we are looking at is if the stem needs to be 10mm shorter but otherwise the small standard was spot on. Now for me with my Nerv DS2 every single tube is a custom length as the posture system said I was long in the arms and short in the legs, actually not the most flattering thing I had ever been told- but there you go!!!! So we had to spec a total custom build. I did have a choice of a Cevelo frame as well but when you see the measurement results it was obvious the fixed size frame was going to be a compromise for my body shape and when your spending this kind of money on an ultra high end frame who wants to compromise when you dont have too? The tube sizes were increased due to my weigth and the bottom bracket was carbon molded to allow press fit bearings rather than screw in, producing a totally unique frame and thus bike for me. Now I am sure the standard frame will be super for my wife but if I am ever to get up the Col I am going to need all the help I can get, so the custom build is not just nice to have, its essential.
